Picture: Port Carraig Sgàirn

Looking through some pictures today trying to find a nice picture to post I found this picture of a view down some cliffs with a quite rough sea below and a lot of spray in the air. It is a view over Port Carraig Sgàirn near Sanaigmore on the north west corner of Islay:

Picture of high cliffs with waves breaking under them

The picture was taken during a visit to Islay in September 2000. It had been quite windy (some might even call it stormy) for a few days and there was still quite a swell coming in from the Atlantic. The sea was white at the bottom of the cliffs (just under 100m high here) where the waves were crashing over the rocks, sending spray up in the air which the wind carried to the top of the cliffs.
