Golf (and Whisky) on Islay

I don't play golf and consequently don't know much about golf. But I've visited St Andrews (the Home of Golf) and had breakfast overlooking the famous 18th hole. I also like my whisky, enjoying an Ardbeg Very Young while writing this entry, an entry about golf (and whisky) on Islay:

According to Owen Blackhurst of 'Golf Punk' magazine the golf course on Islay, The Machrie, belongs to the ten best golf courses. I assume in the UK, as there are no golf courses outside of the UK listed. Either way, certainly a good result.

Golf Adventure Guides expands the theme when they write about Great Golf and Single Malts on Islay:

If you love links golf and enjoy a fine single malt every now and then, the island of Islay in Scotland might just be heaven on earth.

Continuing on the whisky and golf theme, Bruichladdich distillery has (or had?) their The Links special edition, incl a The Old Course St Andrews limited edition.

And finally back to a golf success story inspired by Islay: Craig made me see light after a boozy game in darkness. Yes, the game in question was at The Machrie on Islay.
