Kilchiaran Bay and Slate Quarry, Islay
Today in two weeks I will have completed my first walk on Islay during WalkIslay 2007. My only problem with that is that I still haven't completed the Scotland Summer 2006 travelogue, which includes my last visit to Islay. I think I really need to hurry up here. The good news are that I can report some progress today:
Earlier this evening I've completed the page for an afternoon at Kilchiaran Bay, Islay. Linked to it also a Quicktime VR panorama of the view over Kilchiaran Bay, Islay. I hope you like the pages and they give you a good overview of the area.
I think I have to thank Ian of Kilchoman Cottages on Islay for this in a way: He had mentioned the quarry to me a few days earlier, when I was at Kilchiaran I remembered it and decided to take a look. While there isn't that much to see it was still very nice to look around in it (with care obviously). Not to forget the nice views from Rubha na h-Airde Móire.
Now it's on to a fantastic day at Lossit Bay and around. I didn't really mention it yesterday, but the picture from the last Friday Islay Picture is actually from that day. Looks promising, doesn't it?
