The Legend of Laphroaig Book Published

While a lot people were eager to get their hands on the overhyped iPhone today Islay Single Malt Whisky enthusiasts will be more interested in a book just published today. Regular readers might remember Marcel van Gils, also known as the Laphroaig Collector, who I wrote about in July last year. Not only is he the proud owner of a very comprehensive Laphroaig collection, he also is now the author of a book about the famous Islay malt:

Together with Hans Offringa he has just published The Legend of Laphroaig, a book about the history of the famous distillery at Laphroaig Bay. I haven't got the book yet, but there is a preview at the website (a pdf with sample pages to download) and it looks fantastic!

I'm not sure if any of my Dutch readers were able to attend it, but the book was scheduled to be released at the Whisky Live Leiden today. Assuming everything went to plan the first readers should have their copy by now. I've exchanged a few e-mails with Marcel, he's a very nice and friendly guy. I wish him a lot of success with the book and many many sales. If you're looking for a Christmas present for someone interested in Laphroaig (or even just Islay for that matter) you should seriously consider it.

My order will go out as soon as possible. Time to pour myself a wee dram of Laphroaig now...
