Islay Blogging Roundup #15

Right then, here we are for the first Islay Blogging Roundup written from Bremen in Germany. I'm visiting my parents for a few days, but that won't stop me from completing this weeks roundup. I hope some people would still like to know what the blogs have been writing about Islay. So here we go, what have the blogs been writing about Islay this week?

Before disappearing into his Christmas Break Ron picked up on reports that Ardbeg Distillery might be older than Bowmore, a claim quickly rebuffed by Bowmore. All this only facilitates a short comment from Bruichladdich: ‘The Bruichladdich Disitllery Company Limited is 7 years old today’.

Over in Japan Takeshi picks up on The Legend of Laphroaig book, which I reviewed recently. Unfortunately I can't read what he's writing, but I hope a few copies of Marcel's and Hans' book will find their way to Japan.

I've mentioned my Kilchoman Futures recently, here's another blogger who owns Kilchoman futures. Not entirely sure, but I think Håkan Wanke is from Sweden.

Over in America Fatemeh is unhappy with service at a top restaurant when they offer a Macallan instead of an Islay Single Malt just because the price is the same. Certainly agree to that, although we disagree on the ice in the whisky...

Another blog where I'm not entirely sure of the nationality of the blogger, but I think he/she is Russian. Anyway, here's an entry about an arrival on Islay, I think there might be further entries to come (there are several about Skye).

It's also the time for ‘the year in review’ and all that, here's Dave Williams Blog - 2007 review & Islay malts. Yes, that's this Dave.

Islay High School features quite regularly in the blogs, partly because of their resident blogger. IslayIan provides a heads up for next summers expedition, while Louise from the TAG Theatre Company writes about her experiences on Islay during a recent workshop.

Also on Islay Becky has been walking again, from Kilchiaran to Granny's Rock. She mentions a walk from Kilchoman to Kilchiaran with WalkIslay, I'm fairly sure that's her in the picture at Bealach na Caillich (the light blue cap and the blue backpack on the left).

And what about the birds, I hear you ask? Well, the Bar headed goose is back, trying to hide among 2,000 barnacle geese. Obviously not successfully. Earlier in the week 12 buzzards were seen in one trip down the Rinns.

Almost forgot, Christmas and the new year are coming up. Properly picked up at Bones Festes i Bon 2008!!!, a blog in Catalan about whisky, obviously mentioning Islay and its whisky on several occasions. The author will on Islay in early May 2008, so watch out!

Last but not least the usual link to the Scottish Roundup, today with Lack of Solidarity, and the latest converts to independence. And with that I leave you for today, my wee dram of Laphroaig Quarter Cask is waiting. We had planned to go to the Bremer Weihnachtsmarkt, but as the weather is a bit wet we changed our mind.
