Saturday Evening Islay Links

Islay Links in stencil

It feels like yesterday that I posted the Islay Links for Early April. But then again that's almost three weeks ago. Since then I've come across a few more Islay links I thought worth sharing while enjoying a ‘Kentucky Kiss’ (yes, it's really called that) from Islay Ales:

To start with the new website of the Islay & Jura Tourism Marketing Group has recently gone live. It can now be found under the new address www.visitislayjura.com. The old site still exists, but most of the content has moved over to the new site. The new site is still work in progress, but I think it looks quite good to build on. There's also a download link to a weekly ‘What's on’ event calendar.

For the sporty types among you the Islay Triathlon 2010 site provides information about the upcoming 18th Islay Triathlon in June 2010. It also encourages anyone interested in participating to Start Training Now!

From the news department there's BBC News - Sunken barge to be removed from Kennacraig Harbour and the slightly misleading headline Harry Potter railway named best in the world - Telegraph. Misleading because Bruichladdich distillery on Islay has been shortlisted as one of the best places to enjoy a drink, the only interesting part in the report. To vote go to the Lonely Planet Awards 2010.

The Islay blogging roundup will return tomorrow, until then a taster with three entries from Sea kayaking with SeaKayakPhoto.com, Douglas and friends are back on Islay: Day return to Islay, please., The most southern point of the Hebrides. and Oa what a beautiful morning, Oa what a beautiful day! More to come…
