Progress on Morrison Square in Bowmore, Islay

Islay News in stencil

Back in July I posted a few pictures from the Morrison Square works in Bowmore a friend from Islay had sent me. Today he sent me a few more pictures with how it looks now, certainly a lot of progress has been made. To start with a look from further back:

I think this looks really promising, the various elements seem to be breaking up the rather large open space into smaller areas. Let's take a closer look:

The paths leading in from the sides seem to guide you into the square, hopefully that will attract visitors on to the square, invite them to walk on to it and relax on the benches. Also the map feature (not sure if there's a name for it?) which will go into the centre of the square breaks up the rather large open space. Finally a look towards the right, the back of the square:

On the right you can make out the stairs leading to the visitor centre, the ramp for wheelchairs is right behind it. Judging from the plan (see the previous entry about the square) it seems there won't be any benches in that corner of the square, not sure why.

I hope the finished product will be at least similar to the image I now have in my mind. When I'm on Islay again in just over a month I'll certainly take a look. I don't know if it will be finished by then, but I will certainly take a look and record my impressions.
