No Friday Islay Picture - Merry Christmas!

The first wee dram of Islay single malt has been poured, I've got some nice dark chocolate with sea salt, a great start to the looong Christmas weekend (For non-UK readers not aware, if a bank holiday in the UK falls on a weekend it is moved to the next weekday. Meaning we have a 4 day weekend this year). For those of you who were expecting the usual Friday Islay picture I've got a slight disappointment, what you get today is just a very much younger me wishing you a Merry Christmas (and Frohe Weihnachten for any German speaking readers):

Picture of a young boy on the arms of his father, admiring a Christmas tree

Yes, that's me at my second Christmas, on the arm of my father, who back then was just shy of half as old as he is now. To repeat a joke only my German readers will understand: ‘Früher war mehr Lametta’.

I wish you all a great Christmas, be it with your family, be it with friends or even on your own. For the first time in my life I'm not going to be with my family, instead I'm staying in Aldermaston Wharf, where I live. Weather permitting I'm planning to be out and about in the area, I'll also be eating far too much and drink a few Islay single malts, in particular Laphroaig and Bruichladdich. With the meals probably also a few Islay Ales. Of course there will also be some kind of Islay blogging for those of you needing their daily fix of just that.

Have a great Christmas!
