Happy Islay New Year 2011

Now that it is actually 2011 I thought I just repeat what I wrote last night at the end of my personal review of 2010: Happy New Year! Frohes Neues Jahr! Bliadhna mhath ùr! I hope you're going to have a great 2011 and manage to be successful on all your New Year's resolutions (yeah, right, as if that's even remotely possible …).

In 2011 this blog will turn five (yes, in a few months time it will be five years ago I wrote the first entry for this blog) and by the end of the year the Islay Pictures photoblog will have ‘grown up’, at least in whisky terms (i.e. it will be three years old, quite possibly it will also have reached 1,000 pictures. No promises though). In other words, an exciting year ahead for my blogs. I just hope I can continue to inform you, entertain you, challenge you or whatever else you're looking for in these blogs. If there's something you'd like to see more (or less) of, that's what e-mail or the comments are there for. I can't promise I'll be able to do it, but will do my best.

Let me finish with two pictures, one I took myself in October and one I came across today:

Picture of the moon over an island landscape in the morning sun

That's Coull Farm on the west coast of Islay on a fairly cold October morning, the moon still high in the sky, just starting to set. Yes, I'll post a larger version on the photoblog on Sunday morning.

The second picture takes us back to just before Christmas, NZ2 over a very snowy Scotland. The ‘very snowy Scotland’ in question is of course Islay and Jura, seen from a plane arriving from Los Angeles. It's a great view, you can really see how white everything was but can still make out quite a few landmarks like the Paps of Jura.
