Islay Blogging Roundup #174

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

And another weekend almost over, time to write this week's Islay blogging roundup. I hope you had a good weekend, mine was quite productive. Got rid of some clutter which had been annoying me for quite some time, finished a new Islay video (more about that probably tomorrow) and prepared a few other things for next week. But now back to what the blogs have been writing about Islay this week:

Let me start with a few ‘familiar’ names, blogs I've already mentioned last week: Bozkurt continues with his Islay videos from a visit in 2009 in tire-bouchon: home of the Lord of the Isles...* and the A Scottish-Canadian in Switzerland continues with Scotland 2011 - Day 8: Around Islay and leaves with Scotland 2011 - Day 9: Islay to Loch Lomond via Invrrary Loch Fyne.

This being summer (allegedly…) and therefore the holiday season there were several entries about visits to Islay: In English, Adam Sloan - Blog - Islay, Scottish Inner Hebrides, in German, In vain I have struggled.: Schottland 2010, Tag 13 ( Stonefield - Isle of Islay) and in Swedish, Skottlandsresan 2011. There was some more Swedish in Whiskybloggen: En ny resa till Islay är avklarad, which takes me nicely to the whisky:

Whiskybloggen: Five bottles from my trip is the follow up entry. Wagner & Stephens have A Quick Verdict on Jura while the Northern Walker tries the Ardbeg Uigeadail. Not directly a whisky entry but then The Man with the Golden Spanner mentioned on the Bruichladdich Blog helps to make quite a lot. Congratulations Duncan!

From the ‘It's better than a Chinese character where I don't have a clue what it really means but I wouldn't do this either’ department comes an entry on the ardblog titled Ardbeg geht unter die Haut! (in English: Ardbeg goes under the skin). I think the pictures tell you enough, no further translation necessary.

Back to some travel A Luxury Travel Blog has a Special feature: Jura Lodge on the Isle of Jura, Scotland, UK whereas Ron has the Islay Fisher Travel Report. He also has a contribution by Mark Unsworth with Malts Cruise 2011 at Port Ellen Islay.

The birds and wildlife start with Sedge Warbler: Islay 4-16 July and the Islay Birds blog has a variety of birds and great days with Kestrels and Otters. Away from the birds and even Islay there's an inquisitive seal on Scilly, don't know if they do that on Islay as well? On the Islay Natural History Trust blog we find some great Photos from Fiona Skinner and a special Spider Crab Shell.

As usual I'll end with the pictures: I've linked to him before, Donald Feist has been back home on Islay and has a new Blipfoto :: Kilchoman :: 18 July 2011. On his Islay Weblog Ron shows a View from Islay to Colonsay while on his photoblog we find Peat Water flowing back to Sea at Lossit Bay and a Lamb at Persabus Farm. On Mark's Islaystudios's Blog the Image of the week shows the gloaming in Saligo Bay. Similar Saligo Bay on his photography gallery. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I think I'll go for the Otter in Machir Bay and the Waves at Sunset in Machir Bay, Isle of Islay.

With that I'll close for today, even though I've got the nagging feeling I've forgotten something. As it's just a feeling and no hint of what it could be I'll have to leave it at that. Of course there's still the link to the Scottish Roundup, this week with Holiday Reading. Good night!
