Mixed Islay Links

Islay Links in stencil

While I could (and do) share many of the Islay related links I come across on social networks (Twitter, Google+ and to a lesser extent Facebook) I still think there's a lot of value in good old-fashioned blogging. To start with not everyone uses them. Then they are only visible for a short time before disappearing in the constant stream of new postings. While a blog also moves on it moves slower and via the archives is available permanently. With that over to a few Islay related links I came across recently:

The first one is Islay Ferry | Tarbert To Islay. It's a new website I came across today (via Tarbert PA29: New Islay Ferry Website At Tarbert) which lists accommodation and restaurants in Tarbert, the closest village to the Islay ferry terminal in Kennacraig. The site is brand new and parts are still under construction, but it looks promising and worth bookmarking.

The Islay Hotel in Port Ellen now has a The Islay Hotel Facebook page with pictures and other updates. The official website is still being built, although a placeholder page is already live at The Islay Hotel - Welcome.

Islay whisky links normally have their own category, but as I titled this entry mixed Islay links here's one now: Oh, for peat's sake: Scotch gets smoked writes The Globe and Mail from Canada.

As I mentioned social networks, the Twitter quote of the day from a few days ago was by momomoto:

On Islay. The only place on earth where you can put stuff in at a laundromat and then hit the distillery next door for a dram.

I have no idea if that's true, but I'd like to believe it is and think there is a very high probability it is true. I'll leave you to ponder this thought, more links latest on Sunday with the Islay Blogging Roundup…
