Supporting Cancer Research & Care
Taking a short break from Islay blogging today, as I have for a number of years now. Long time readers might remember that my mother died of pancreatic cancer 3.5 years ago. Today would have been her birthday.
The picture on the right shows my mother during what was going to be her last visit to Islay in June 2007, about eight months after she was diagnosed and nine months before she died. A visit I firmly believe was only possible because of the progress in medical research and the excellent treatment she received. Which leads me to my recurring appeal to support some of these cancer related charities:
- Cancer Research UK
- Macmillan Cancer Support
- Sir Bobby Robson Foundation
- Deutsche Krebshilfe
- Österreichische Krebshilfe
- Krebsliga Schweiz - Gemeinsam gegen Krebs
- Canadian Cancer Society - Société canadienne du cancer
- KWF Kankerbestrijding (Netherlands)
- Cancer Research Institute (USA)
- American Cancer Society
- Australian Cancer Research Foundation
- Cancerfonden - Riksföreningen mot cancer (Swedish Cancer Society)
- Kreftforeningen (Norwegian Cancer Society)
- Syöpäjärjestöt (Finnish Cancer Organisations)
My birthday present for my mother will be on its way shortly. Normal service to resume tomorrow.
