Happy New Year 2013, on Islay and Elsewhere!

Islay Fun in stencil

Happy New Year! 2013 is already 18 hours old when I'm writing this, so I better write a New Year's entry. It was fairly quiet for me, an evening in last night followed by the New Year's Day Concert from the Vienna Philharmonic. Later in the afternoon I went for a walk, taking a look at the River Kennet which is running very high at the moment. Of course there were various celebrations on Islay last night, some videos and pictures I came across today I thought I share here:

This was the traditional bonfire and fireworks in Port Charlotte, although apparently they were a bit slow compared to Bowmore. I'm not aware of a video of the Bowmore fireworks, but there are a few pictures:

Phil Gray has five very nice pictures in his album Bowmore Firework Display on Facebook. In particular the one looking down along the road I like.

Andrew Jackson of The Bowmore House also posted a few pictures from his elevated viewpoint: He claims the best view on Islay with this one, lots of red in this one and more in this one.

And with that I'm signing off soon for tonight, New Year's resolution to try to fulfil ;-)

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
