Islay Blogging Roundup #239

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

It's Sunday afternoon, time for this week's Islay blogging roundup. It's been a busy day for me, getting a few chores done, trying to get an animated gif to work (no luck so far) and baking another bread. But now for the Islay mentions in the blogs this week:

It's not in my price range, but if it's in yours you might want to check out Whisky Advocate’s 19th Annual Award: Islay Single Malt of the Year. More affordable we find the SmokyBeast Review: Ardbeg Uigeadail - Holy Smoke!. Also The Malt Diary have been busy again, Tasting one Laphroaig, Tasting one Lagavulin and Tasting one peaty Bruichladdich.

The Global Bartender Exchange writes about A Venture into the land of the Lord of the Isles while Cask Tales says Litorally delightful – Marks & Spencer Islay Single Malt 12. Peat.se writes about the Octomore 5.1 in Världens rökigaste whisky ryker vidare and eternalwhisky says Brucichladdich – Fingers Crossed. From Germany originalverkorkt writes about Islays einziger Gin -The Botanist von Bruichladdich.

Bev writes about Plan "B", which was a visit to Islay and Jura. Granny and Grumpy are on their way to Islay - Home Of The Best Malt Whisky

Big Stu went to see the Scottish Opera perform on Islay and was very impressed (and I know he wasn't the only one). Ron writes about Islay Weather Stations and Current Weather while Rachel brings us WHISKY & FASHION. On the Our Learning Blog of Port Ellen Primary School we can learn about Robert Burns and their Burns Ceilidh.

Postcards from the Edge continue their tour around Islay with BOWMORE and LAGGAN BAY AND THE OA PENINSULA.

For the birdwatching and wildlife there is a mention of Islay in BBC Scotland goes wild in a big way as Dan Wainman writes. On the Islay Birds blog we find a stormy day and Big Garden Watch news, various bird sightings from Mary and the January rain stats combined with some Fulmar sightings. The Islay Natural History Trust blog in the meantime has Snails in the Rhubarb forcer, Scaup and Choughs on the wing.

For the pictures we finally have James Deane back with, well, I'm back! The INHT blog brings us Yet another sunrise. Mark Unsworth is away, so his Images of the week aren't from Islay, but France. Sandy has a Tour Scotland Photograph Ferry Passing Isle Of Jura and Clyde Naval Gazing seems to have been out to Islay with pictures of the Eilan Dhuira (in heavy weather), the RNLB Helmut Schroder of Dunlossit II, the Lord of the Isles and the Hebridean Isles. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I think I'll go for Kilchoman Farm Distillery and Loch Gorm, Cormorant in the Sound of Islay and of course Imke on a Tricycle on Jura.

That's all for this week. For the bigger picture head over to the Scottish Roundup, this week with Say hello and wave goodbye. Good night!

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
