Islay Blogging Roundup #241

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Finally a weekend that felt like spring can't be that far away, at least in West Berkshire. It was fairly sunny most of the weekend for a change. This meant I could get out for my First Flights with a DJI Phantom Quadcopter. I'm hoping to take it to Islay later this year once I've gained a bit more experience. But for now over to the Islay mentions in the blogs this week:

Let's start with a few Islay whisky related entries: livefirewhisky brings us Ardbeg Galileo and Wordless Whisky Wednesday. A Dram Good Time has a Laphroaig Quarter Cask Review while the Whisky Whisperer brings us Lucy in the Sky with Laphroaigs (Part I) and Lucy in the Sky with Laphroaigs (Part II). Sarah has a Scotch Whisky Review: Laphroaig Càirdeas 2012.

An Australian advertising agency discovers Laphroaig's FoL and says Here’s a canny idea. Pete participated and writes about Whisky Wednesday: Bowmore Twitter Tasting

The Bothy brings us some thoughts and related pictures about February. It seems Islay whisky was appreciated for a long time, as Letter dated 16 February 1927, Cairo indicates.

Last week I mentioned a few blog posts about a visit to Scarba, this week I have a few more: On run, ride & sleep outside we find The Scrambling Stags of Scarba and The Scrambling Stags of Scarba: pt 2. On backpackingbongos we read Scarba – Stags on treasure island pt2.

The Islay Birds blog as usual provides us with updates about the birdwatching: A big update with lots of birds on Saturday, one of several updates from the visiting Hampshire birders and another big update on Sunday with a heads up for an event next week are the entries picked this week. The event in question is also mentioned on the INHT blog, for it is a Gordon Yates film show. Also on the INHT blog we find Snowdrops and a Grass beach ball. John Armitage has a great picture of a Merlin on a road sign in A couple of unexpected bonuses! 16.2.2013. More pictures and sightings from John in Whiter than white! 15.2.2013

The pictures, starting with a painting: I mentioned Colin last week, this week we have an Update: ‘Storm over Loch Indaal’. On the INHT blog Becky posts a few pictures from a Walk at Ardnave. Mark Unsworth is still away, an in a way sad Image of the week from Brittany from him. James Deane has returned to Islay, although the picture is still from Wester Ross. On flora 105 a picture of Frankie in his boat and Ron has two Views of Kilchoman Beach and Machir Bay as well as writes about Wild Islay Sea Pictures by James Deane. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've decided to go with the Laphroaig Reflections, the Stormy Saligo Bay Seen Through Dune Grass and the Dramatic Light in Machir Bay, Isle of Islay.

Time to finish this roundup, that's all I had this week. As usual the reference to the Scottish Roundup, this week with Love, loss and libraries. Good night!
