Islay Blogging Roundup #242

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

It's been a quite cold weekend in the UK, with it being a beautiful sunny day on Islay while down south in West Berkshire from where I'm writing this it has just been grey and dull. Unfortunately also fairly windy here today, so I didn't manage to get out with the quadcopter today. But now over to the Islay and Jura mentions in the blogs this week:

Pamela now has her own website and one of the entries transfered over is Wintery West Coast from a visit to Islay in November. Stephanie writes about Island Dreams. At the Rowan Cottage we can read about Carpets of Snowdrops.

Josh at Jewmalt brings Two Bruichladdich distillery-only “Valinch” bottlings. One is sublime, the other is like drinking a dead muskrat., an interesting and funny read. Heavy Whisky tastes the Ardbeg 17 Years Old and the New Yorker's photo department bring us The Scotches of Bruichladdich. Dave Worthington shares his notes from the Bowmore Tweet Tasting. Gordon had Two from WhiskyBroker……., one of which was an Ardbeg. The post is from last year, but I don't think I mentioned it then, so here's Ansgar's account from a visit to Bruichladdich distillery. Devil's Reef finds A light in dark places with a Caol Ila.

Ron has a POLL: Islay and Jura Fair Ferry. At Keills Primary Nave and Isla are starting a new blog while on the Our Learning Blog of Port Ellen Primary we can read about the workshops during Feis 2013. The Islay and Jura Timebank announces the next stroll is at Port Wemyss & Portnahaven on 26/Feb.

Chris Mills from Norfolk Birding kicks of the birdwatching with Islay Winter Birding Tour Report 8th-16th February 2013. The Islay Birds blog has a nice picture of a Chough (and bird sightings), updates from the Hampshire birders and sightings by Bob. John Armitage reports Success despite the weather. 17.2.2013. and Eagles galore! 18.2.2013. on Jura.

A few pictures as well, on the INHT blog Becky posted some from a Walk from Lossit to Tormisdale last December and from Chasing the Dipper. Mark Unsworth is still in France, sharing a picture of a sardine trawler wreck, kind of suffering the same fate as the Wyre Majestic on Islay. James Deane is fully back though, today with a picture of Lagavulin Distillery. Andrew brings us a sunset in Bowmore and his The Bowmore House in the evening light. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've decided to go for The American Monument, Cliffs and Walkers on The Oa, River Laggan and Laggan Bay from a Plane and Geese in Hazy Afternoon Sunlight, Isle of Islay.

I think that's it for this week. As usual the link to the Scottish Roundup, this week with Films, Fillies and the Yes/No People… Good night!

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
