Islay Blogging Roundup #247 - Easter Edition

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Just poured myself a nice wee dram of Islay single malt whisky to round off a quite nice Easter bank holiday weekend. No, the whisky wasn't from that ancient illicit distillery discovered today, as most of you will have probably guessed that was my April Fools contribution for this year. I hope you've enjoyed it. But now it's back to catch up with the Islay blogging roundup, pushed out to today as I was busy with two non-Islay videos yesterday (Timelapse Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race passing Aldermaston Wharf and DJI Phantom Quadcopter Sunny Easter Flight over Aldermaston Wharf in case you're interested).

Let me start with a few Islay whisky related entries: dramstats writes On the Laphroaig engima and a review of Laphroaig Quarter Cask and Philip at Eye for Spirits has the Kilchoman Machir Bay 2013 im Test. Malt Mileage tastes the Bowmore 12 Year Old. We turn to Finland for Bruichladdich 3D3 third edition–kolme yhdessä. The Whisk(e)y Room compares Kilchoman, Inaugural 100% Islay vs. Winter 2010 Release and whisky worship has an Ileach - head to head. On the Bruichladdich site we find Research Into Maturation Of Single Malt Whisky Continues At Bruichladdich

Still with a whisky link (and coming to Islay soon) check out The Wonderful World Of Whisky Art – Video Blog as well as The Wonderful World Of Whisky Art. Closely related Rachel has Whisky Theme Art Exhibition @ Feis Ile. Paul works for Calmac and while usually at home further north travelled From spring to winter through the Sound of Islay.

The Old Runningfox went To Islay - Queen of the Hebrides.... Ron collated some Calmac News Snippets (and my experience with the WiFi on the ferry in November was rather dreadful, I assume big part of the problem is backlink to the mainland). Port Ellen Primary's Our Learning Blog brings us information about Extreme Weather and its impact on the school, the Easter Egg Competition and Indian Gods and saris. There were also Food Experiments and a P7 Islay High School Visit.

On to the birdwatching: The Islay Birds blog brings us the March rain stats and birds sightings, a snow update with a bumper bird update and sightings from the Bolton Birders. The INHT blog has Purple Saxifrage and hundreds of ducks. No, not those ducks, the other ones. You also get Four for the price of one (take that supermarkets with your BOGOF).

Finally the pictures: Mark Unsworth's IMAGE OF THE WEEK is an old drive belt and chain at Bruichladdich. On the INHT blog we get Snow trees. Ron brought us a distant view of Loch Indaal and Shower and Faint Rainbow over North Islay Hills. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked Waves in Machir Bay, Early Evening at Saligo Bay in Summer and Hazy Afternoon at Kilchiaran, Isle of Islay.

That's all for this week, time for bed. Good night!

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
