Islay Blogging Roundup #255
Let's see how much of an Islay blogging roundup I can pull together this week. With the recent heatwave blogging seems to be rather slow at the moment. Still, there were a few interesting posts to be found:
A few Islay whisky related posts: Bold and Beautiful: Lagavulin 12 Cask Strength (2012) writes a graduate student and NY Loves Whisky has a Review: Laphroaig PX. The Malt Impostor has a taste of The Laphroaig 22 Year 1990 from The Exclusive Casks (30 ml frog in your throat bottle)
Some Islay visits: The Teacity of Bolton among other places stopped on Islay as mentioned in Blog catch up. Two distillery visits, first The Malt Impostors Abroad: The Impostors visit the Ardbeg Café then Eye For Spirits from Germany mainly visits distilleries in Islay – Ein Reisebericht von Schottlands rauchigster Insel. A French sailing yachts visits, De Kerrera à Islay. A German blogger went island hopping, of course including Islay, in Schottland2.
Ron interrupts his silent season with Soaring Islay. Whisky Guy Rob is Making Time for Whisky and Writing, with his book coming out next week, presumably including a lot of Islay mentions. The whiskycomedian states George Orwell would not approve, and I have to agree with him.
Despite the heat the birdwatching and wildlife spotting continues, as documented in the Islay Birds blog: Various sightings from George, 160 Grey Seals and Paul's sightings on his arrival get a mention among others. The INHT blog brings us the story of Rescuing a Wild Goat, a Grass Rivulet, second record for Islay and news from an Insect Hunt. There's also a picture of a brilliant Islay Alphabet Quilt. Tom shares a few pictures from a birdwatching trip to Islay.
And to finish the pictures: A Swiss visitor to Scotland has pictures from the three southern distilleries from his Islay visit. Douglas shared The glory of a Hebridean sunset with great views of Islay and Jura as seen from Cara. On Ron's photoblog we find clouds over Jura and Sea Pinks at Saligo. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked McArthur’s Head lighthouse from the Islay ferry, Haar rolling into Machir Bay and Gloaming at Kilchoman School Cottage, Isle of Islay.
That's it for this week, I hope you found something interesting. For the bigger picture as usual head over to the Scottish Roundup, this week with In Summary… It’s Summery…
