Islay Blogging Roundup #257

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Apparently a new Dr Who has been revealed tonight. That will probably drown out pretty much everything else for tonight. For those who aren't interested in Dr Who (or have moved on by now) here are this week's Islay mentions in the blogs:

Let me start with an Islay visit again: If I read it right a couple from New Zealand is on a big Scotland 2013 tour, the Islay bits are Fort William to Isle of Islay, Isle of Islay Distillery Tour - All eight ! and Isle of Islay to Sterling. On Whippety Wanderings we ROMAHOME JOURNEY TO ISLAY, I think there might be more to come. Dianna documented her visit in Our First Few Days in Scotland! and Islay, Part II. The French yacht Vertige sailed from Jura to Islay before leaving Scotland for Ireland. Michael Baeron reports from glamping on Islay.

Now a few whisky related ones: Cask Tales has No laughing matter – Blackadder Laphroaig (Raw Cask). A Polish blog reviews the LAPHROAIG 10 YEARS OLD CS 005. Heiko from Switzerland was rather disappointed by A visit to… Ardbeg. The Bruichladdich news blog looks back at Jim McEwan - 50 Years In The Whisky Business after announcing A Summer Pause. On Whisky Israel we find a review of the Kilchoman 100% Islay 3rd edition , 2013 and Alcohol and Aphorisms has Tasting Notes: Bruichladdich: The Laddie Ten.

Gordon (who will be back on Islay soon, as he keeps telling everyone) writes Hebrides : Islands on the Edge – Very well received…. Ron announces a few Islay Ferry Additional Sailings in August and writes about the Ride of the Falling Rain 2013. The INHT has a report from the Festival of the Sea 2013.

Moving on to the birdwatching and wildlife: Stephen writes about his sightings in Islay 20-27 July. On the Islay Birds blog we find the sightings from the bird nerd meeting, the monthly weather summary (it was dry) and raptors spotted by visitors. On the INHT blog we find the Butterfly Fun day - Big Butterfly Count and Butterfly Fun Day - at the Centre.

Finally to close as usual the pictures: Mark Newton went to Islay for his honeymoon and from it he posted a few Islay Photos. Ron shares the sandy track at Ardnave. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked the Hen Harrier against the evening sun, the Fishing boat under a sunbreak and of course Machair north of Saligo, Isle of Islay.

That's all for this week, for the bigger picture head over to the Scottish Roundup, nicely closing the circle with And the new Doctor Who is…. Good night!

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
