Islay Blogging Roundup #262

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Another busy weekend coming to an end. Yesterday was baking day, making bread as well as my first Bremer Klaben of the season (with it getting significantly cooler this weekend it felt right). Both yesterday and today was video editing day, earlier this evening I uploaded my latest Islay from the air video, Port Charlotte, Islay, with a DJI Phantom Quadcopter. But more about that tomorrow, now it's time for the Islay mentions in the blogs this week:

Adam describes how his sugar Rehab was thwarted by a visit to Islay. Related there are also accounts from visits to Bowmore, Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Bunnahabhain, Kilchoman, Bruichladdich, Caol Ila, Jura, Ardbeg and Laphroaig and Chess.

I should think more is to come after #21 Jura, Part I from a journey to Jura. Heather looks back at her Islay visit in Little Ol’ Whisky Drinker Me – A Comedy Writer’s Tour of Islay. The Majestic Line blog reports from A Serene and Scenic Sail in the Southern Hebrides. After Heading North … Aly Wilks reports We’re back! from a week on Islay. Kate has My first environmental science expedition – Najas Flexilis and Islay and A real SCUBA rescue experience – mistakes made and lessons learned.

Some Islay single malt related entries: Sku has tasted the Laphroaig Cask Strength and Cairdeas. Daniel reports from a rhapsody in blue in Singapore, the blue being the Bruichladdich blue. On their own news blog they share Bruichladdich In Singapore. Fredde Boos tastes the Bruichladdich Infinity (55,5%, OB, First Release). The Whisk(e)y Room tastes the Lagavulin 16 year while the Whiskey Catholic has a Lagavulin Visit Recap.

Stu reports from an evening with Angus – Weaver of Grass while Anna is very pleased with the Local Produce. On Tuesday there will be a Computer Training for Older People as announced by the Islay and Jura Timebank. Ron announces an update to his Islay Info Android App for Smartphones and Tablets.

Of course there was also birdwatching and wildlife: The Islay Birds blog reports of Golden Eagles, waders at Machir Bay and a variety of birds today. The INHT blog reports from a visit to the Foreland Brick and Tile Works and of Invertebrates galore!

The pictures: Charles Kenwright shares Seascape and Sanaig Bay. Ron has a rainbow over Nerabus. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked the Dramatic sunset in Bowmore, the Steep cliffs north of Saligo and the view of the Rhinns of Islay lighthouse and Port Wemyss coastal path.

That's all for this week, for the bigger picture check the Scottish Roundup, this week with Paintings, poetry and recipes for style cook up a winning menu. Good night!

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
