New Islay video, surfing in Machir Bay
During my recent Islay holiday I recorded quite a lot of video footage, a lot of which I hope to edit and share with you over the next few weeks. Before I take you to the skies above Bruichladdich (the next video on my to edit list) I thought I take you to the waters in Machir Bay:
YouTube: Surfing in Machir Bay, Isle of Islay
This was filmed on my first full day on Islay during my October visit, a day with stunning sunny weather. As usual I went for my (late, having flown the quadcopter at Kilchoman earlier) morning run on the beach in Machir Bay. On a hunch I had not only taken my bridge camera but also the external microphone for it, so when I spotted the surfer in the water I was fairly well prepared. In addition to a few pictures (Surfer in Machir Bay, Surfer in Machir Bay (2)) I was able to record some footage of the surfer in action.
Admittedly the waves weren't very big, but (according to the surfer I had a brief chat with) they were perfectly formed. Unfortunately I didn't get his name when we were chatting and I missed him when I returned later after my shower and breakfast. Hopefully he'll find this entry and/or at least the video and says hi. He knew what he was doing and surfed quite a few waves, I hope to see him again one day in bigger waves.
