Two weeks until the Reindeer come to Islay
Remember when back in August I wrote about the Reindeer are coming to Islay this year? Back then it seemed so far away, but now it's less than two weeks until the Reindeer will indeed be on Islay. On the 14th and 15th of December the Islay winter weekend will take place, including the Reindeer:
You can find more about the Cairngorm Reindeer Team coming to Bowmore on the Islay Rudolph Fund Facebook page (or the Islay Rudolph Fund Twitter feed). All I know is that Liz Hathaway and Mary Redman (McGregor) similarly to probably quite a few other people (in particular children) are quite excited about finally seeing them on Islay.
Having mentioned the Islay winter weekend, in addition to the Reindeer there will be other activities that weekend: There will be the Islay High School Christmas Fayre from noon - 15:30 with food and drink, stalls and more (in aid of S2 trip to Loch Eil). For those wanting a bit of physical activity the Islay and Jura Youth Action group has organised an ice rink for the weekend (Sat 14/Dec noon - 16:00 and 18:00 - 22:00, Sun 15/Dec 10:00 - 18:00), it will be set up at the Bowmore all weather football pitch.
