Islay Blogging Roundup #305

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

That's a busy weekend coming to an end, at least I managed to get quite a few things done (or at least started) I had on my list for a while. This afternoon caught up on some photo processing, posted a set of pictures of changing guard at a Great Crested Grebe's nest. But that was in West Berkshire and this blog is about Islay, so let's move on to the Islay mentions in the blogs this week:

To start with a few Islay visits: I mentioned him last week already, this week Johnnie Does Ardbeg. Having discovered his blog had been mentioned here it was time to leave Islay, written in MALTE I SKOTTLAND 4 – 9 juni 2014 Dag 5. Esther writes about a cycling tour to the islands of Arran and Islay, Scotland. On Malts of Pandemonium we can read a long and interesting report about his Trip to Islay. Swiss Miss Adventures writes about a Scotland trip with Jean. The GrapeScot looks back on Caol Ila - tranquil, with a touch of TCP! Feis Ile 2014. They are not there yet, but on Scotch & Sci-Fi we can already read about Islay day Zero and wait for more to come.

A few Islay whisky tastings, starting with the Whisky Lassie speed tasting 4 whiskies - 5 minutes…. Someone with Annoying Opinions has an opinion on the Octomore 5.1 and the Port Charlotte PC8. Malt Fascination tastes the Laphroaig 1995, 17yo, 61.5%, Nurses and Doctors attend a Beach BBQ – SMWS (29.134). From Sweden peat.se writes Den verkliga lanseringen är Supernovan. Bozzy tastes the Bowmore Dorus Mor 10yo….

Jeffrey Hill of The English Blog (as in the language) picks up on a referendum related cartoon and spots the Islay link, see Cartoon: Scotland's Voice for it.

Ron writes about the wrecked Steamship Floristan at Kilchiaran Bay Islay. The Islay Estates news blog announces Harvesting Underway and writes about Whisky Rocks – An Islay Odyssey. On the 40 Walks Blog the final walk is Walking with Adrienne Scullion on 23 August 2014 from Saligo Bay to Machir Bay.

Moving on to the birdwatching and wildlife, the Islay Birds blog has Paul's sea watching, Peregrines and Hen Harriers and Susan and John's sightings. The INHT blog says Finding fungi was fun! and has news from the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust on tour!. John Armitage writes his Reflections on a Barn Owl neighbour! And on the RSPB Islay blog Mary writes about Autumn on the moor…

Again I'll close with the pictures, where Ron shares the Paps of Jura from Persabus and a sunset over Loch Indaal. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked Dramatic cliffs at Sanaigmore looking south, Wild Goats in the evening light and The Rhinns of Islay lighthouse from Claddach.

That's all for this week, more Islay blogging next week.

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
