Islay Blogging Roundup #306

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Sorry there was no post yesterday, got sidetracked with other things. Starting to make further plans for my Islay visit in November, although annoyingly the winter ferry timetable isn't out yet. Anyway, back to the task at hand, this week's Islay mentions in the blogs:

Start with some Islay whisky: Ben has a taste of the Kilchoman Port Cask Matured. A Finnish whisky blog (which Google Translate struggles to translate) had the Smokehead 18 yo Extra Black 46% and the Bowmore 10 yo The Devil’s Casks Batch #2, 56,3% while the Whisky Waffle went for the Lagavulin 16 Year Old and comments on Ardbeg returns from space!. A German whisky blog tastes the Bowmore Black Rock, OB 2014. Another Finnish blog (Smoke On The Water, which I believe I've mentioned before) writes about the Port Charlotte PC11 Eòrna Na H-Alba. The man with the annoying opinions has another one, this time about the Ardbeg Ardbog.

On to the Islay visits: Smallholders Claire and James are visiting with their dogs and describe their experiences in Off To Islay, Exploring Islay, Recall On Islay, Islay Cows, Jura and Laggan Bay. Jacqui Dunbar returns for her third visit and writes about it in Happy Birthday Blog and Islay – Her name is Girl Carmen. Last week Esther wrote about Arran and Islay, this week it's the turn of The isles of Jura, Mull and Iona, Scotland. I've mention this Romanian blog back in August, this week another entry about their visit to Lagavulin Distillery. On Tom's Whisky Reviews we can read about #IslayRoadTrip Day 1 and #IslayRoadTrip Day 2, presumably there's more to come. They are not on Islay yet, but the journey described in Day One on itsnotalltragic let me expect some interesting reading.

Ron blogs a couple of videos, Video Report Arran and Islay and Arriving at Port Ellen Islay. On the Our Learning Blog of Port Ellen Primary we can read about Smoke Free Me!. On the Geograph blog Becky writes about her Circumnavigation of Islay.

On to the wildlife and birdwatching: On the Islay Birds blog we can read about a variety of sightings, Peter's sightings and Peregrines, Ospreys and White Tailed Sea Eagles. The INHT blog brings us More moths and John Armitage writes about Heralds of autumn. 17.9.2014.

To close of course the pictures: James has Wildflowers On Islay At Sunset. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked Tallant Farm, Isle of Islay, and the Paps of Jura, Bright morning on Port Charlotte pier and Walkers on the raised beaches in the north of Islay.

That's all for this week, more next week. Good night!
