Off to the Islay Sessions (and more)

Islay Events written in stencil

Some more packing done, now it's time for a last blog entry before leaving for Glasgow (well, Dumbarton to be precise) on Friday. As I've hinted a few times already it's time for my third Islay visit this year. The first reason for this visit are of course the Islay Sessions. While I'll miss the Ceilidh and pub sessions on Friday I'm aiming to be there for the Grand Concert on Saturday. Here's my video of the one two years ago:

There will also be pub session on Sunday, which I hope to visit. Here's a video of the session in the Port Charlotte Hotel two years ago:

Very much looking forward to some great music over the two days. I hope to also meet a few old and new friends at the events.

Once the sessions are over I've got another week to enjoy Islay. Weather permitting I'm hoping to be out and about as much as possible, of course take in the geese and other birdlife to start with. Some distillery visits of course. Meet people, old and new friends. If I get a clear night or two I'm hoping to get out for some night photography. While I fear I will take it back unused I will be taking my quadcopter in the unlikely event there is a calm enough day to fly it.

As usual I will be staying at Kilchoman House Cottages, for the first time with David and Caroline since Ian and Margaret retired. I'll also spend two nights with Andrew and Alison at The Bowmore House before leaving again. Just in case you want to get in touch.

Again as usual it will be silent here while I'm on Islay. Signal and/or WiFi permitting I'll try to post updates to my @islayblog Twitter account and the IslayBlog on Tumblr page.

That's about it for now. May be see you on Islay?
