The Islay Pipe Band
On Friday I wrote about a Ceilidh On Islay at Bruichladdich Distillery. I don't know who was playing the music during the video, but today's entry is about a band that quite likely played on the open day. You can hear their music at a variety of occasions on Islay, as you would expect from the Islay Pipe Band. Slightly confusing there are two websites for the band:
- First of all there's a site under the nice domain islaypipeband.org.uk. Only problem is that the site doesn't seem to have been updated since 2005?
- There's more recent activity at the (new?) Islay Pipe Band website, which as far as I can tell has seen updates as late as early this month. There are also quite a few pictures from 2006 in the Islay Pipe Band Gallery, so I think this is the site to go to.
Unfortunately I haven't seen (or heard for that matter) them playing yet, I hope I'll get the opportunity over the coming years during one of my visits to Islay.
