Picture: An Islay Butterfly
Islay is well known for its birdlife, birdwatching is a very popular activity. There are also various seal colonies, otters can be seen as well if you're lucky. Occasionally dolphins can be watched swimming up Loch Indaal. Farmers keep cattle, sheep and also llamas. But I'm not showing you a picture of any of these Islay animals today.
Instead here's a butterfly. I have no idea if it is special at all, apart from that it was living on Islay. It therefore qualifies as an Islay butterfly for me. The picture was taken in August 2006 in the community kitchen garden behind Islay House Square.
