Going Shopping On Islay

Kell is leaving for Scotland and Islay in a weeks time. She's hoping for a bit of shopping on Islay between all the distillery tours. I already left a comment with a few suggestions for shopping while on Islay. Here are some more detailed suggestions:
- Roy's Celtic House in Bowmore is a great source for books about Islay and Jura, Islay related jewellery and a number of other goods
- The Islay Woollen Mill made the tartan for Braveheart and Rob Roy. I own a very nice blanket in the Finlaggan Tartan, beautiful colours. Also read my Gordon Covell and the Islay Woollen Mill entry for more details
- There are a number of businesses on Islay House Square (picture above). They include Elizabeth Sykes Batiks, IslayQuilters and Islay Ales among others
- Near Port Askaig and on the way to Bunnahabhain you'll pass Persabus Pottery. My personal favourite is the Bowmore Round Church Tea Light. Looks beautiful with the light in it
- When in Bruichladdich I highly recommend a visit to Islay Studios, excellent pictures can be bought here
- If food is an option (may be not for Kell, but probably for other readers), Islay Fine Food at Kilchoman Distillery might be a good option for some fine food.
In other words, while Islay doesn't have a shopping mall, outlet centre or even a high street just for shopping there are still plenty opportunities to buy unique things you won't get anywhere else.
For some pictures also try my Shopping on the Isle of Islay page. If I'm allowed a shameless plug, I also offer my Armin's Little Islay Shop. And as usual, I'm open to suggestions for additions.
