2007 Election On Islay

In several parts of the UK we had elections today. Down here in England we ‘only’ had local elections, up in Scotland and therefore on Islay there was a bit more at stake in the Scottish Elections 2007. In addition to the council elections there was also the election for the Scottish Parliament.

I haven't been able to find much about the election on Islay on the web, in particular nothing about its importance for Islay. I hope that's not a sign of apathy as according to what I just read in the dead tree edition of the Ileach this election is extremely important for Islay. The new proportional election system required a high turnout to ensure a good representation for Islay.

I hope they had a high turnout and an election day at least as nice as John had it on Berneray in the Outer Hebrides. It was mostly sunny and mild down here in the south, but then I voted online a few days ago...
