Islay Blogging Roundup #24

Right, I'm back. Back with a vengeance. Took a bit of a break from active Islay blogging and webworking yesterday, back today with a renewed Islay focus: Earlier today I finally finished the Glen Logan Walk to the Sound of Islay for the Two weeks on Islay in June 2007 travelogue. This afternoon I prepared a Quicktime VR panorama of a view over Bowmore and Loch Indaal for my Islay 180° panoramas collection. And now it's time for this weeks Islay Blogging Roundup. What have the blogs been writing about Islay this week?

I'm having a meal while writing this, so let me start with something to eat: Enkelt om mat, dryck & nöje: Ardbeg & smakbitar! Various Swedish recipes with Ardbeg Islay Single Malt. While I can read some Swedish I don't understand everything of the Ardbeg gravad lax recipe, any Swedish speaker here who can provide a full translation?

Staying with languages I can only just about understand some Dutch: Het wel en wee van de Meertensens: Whisky trail. I think Famillie Meertens plans to visit Islay during a whisky trail which seem to consist mainly of Islay distilleries.

On to birdwatching and wildlife:

Another blog joins the Islay bird bloggers, the ardblog has a stab at Islay birdlife blogging with this picture of a Jackdaw. He promises more when he goes on his next Islay visit.

The Islay Birds blog also recommends Gordon Yates Wildlife Gems of Islay DVD after wondering if spring has come early with some Frog Spawn found in Glen Astle. Later in the week there are reports of a Sparrowhawk showing off its flying skills, seen in real life not on TV.

Ron writes his Islay Wildlife and Birding Report nr7 combined with the latest news from Jeremy Hastings' Islay Birding News. Jeremy reports of wild wild wild weather and nevertheless seeing 60 species of bird. Earlier in the week he wrote about Displaying Eagles.

From the birds to the whisky:

Dr.Whisky: Dr. Whisky Wins Drammie!!!. I'm sure it was the regular mentions of the various Islay malts wot won it. Undoubtedly.

Ron also picks up on the The 2007 Drammies Winners and points out the various winners from Islay. As to be expected there were quite a few.

The Bruichladdich blog reports of the Fast Laddie taking part in the Le Mans 24h race, better luck this time! It also gives a mention to EC - Alcohol Excise Clarity, which once resolved might be of interest in particular to Scandinavians stocking up in Islay malts on Islay.

Other topics:

Ian Stuart went to TeachMeet North to present the Islay High School IT programme centred around their use of UMPCs and OneNote. Very well received again from what I've seen on a few other edublogs.

Over in Japan Takeshi Mogi writes about property for sale on Islay, if I interpret his entry correctly. My knowledge of Japanese is rather limited, to put it mildly.

I think that's about it for this week. It's getting late and I need to get to bed to get some sleep before a busy week ahead. As usual I'll finish with the link to the Scottish Roundup for the bigger picture, this week with Hasta El Roundup Siempre! Good night!
