Friday Islay (and Gigha) Picture #79

Friday Islay Picture in stencil

Welcome to the Halloween edition of the Friday Islay Picture. I don't really care about Halloween, although there is a ‘Halloween on Islay’. Not the real Islay though, some road in Santa Barbara, California, USA. At least today's Friday Islay (and Gigha) picture is a wee bit dark and possibly spooky:

I saw this ship during the crossing from Port Askaig to Kennacraig last Sunday, a rather stormy day with many ferry cancellations. When we first spotted it in the haze and failing light in the distance we thought it was a large fishing boat. Coming closer I thought that it would probably be one of the support ships of the Northern Lighthouse Board, sheltering behind the Isle of Gigha during the storm.

Since then I had ‘forgotten’ about it and planned to return to it once I was writing the travelogue. That was until I read last night's entry at ClydeSights: It was about the PHAROS being spotted at Oban yesterday. Not too far from Gigha, where she was sheltering on Sunday evening. Comparing the pictures I'm now quite sure it was the Pharos we saw.

With that I wish you a great (Halloween) weekend, wherever you are and whatever your plans are. I'll probably mostly stay at home, among other things hopefully completing my latest Islay video project I started yesterday evening.
