Friday Islay Picture #95 - McArthur's Head Lighthouse

Friday Islay Picture in stencil

Sorry, running a bit late this evening, but here's this week's Friday Islay picture. Initially I had thought about going for a view of an Islay distillery, but then decided against it. Instead I went for another view of McArthur's Head lighthouse on the south east corner of Islay. Not from the land, but from sea, from the ferry:

This is one of my favourite views on Islay, also because of its two functions: Arriving with the ferry from Kennacraig it's a guide to Islay, a welcome sign. When leaving Islay, in particular from Port Askaig, it says good bye and tells you to come back soon.

As usual I will publish a larger version (more than twice as big) on the Islay Pictures photoblog tomorrow. Which is also part of the reason why I decided against a distillery picture this evening: I'm thinking about starting ‘themed weeks’ for the photoblog, running from Monday to Sunday. One of the first likely themes is, you guessed it, distilleries.

Have a great weekend!
