Friday Islay Picture #127 - Opera House Rocks

Friday Islay Picture in stencil

Another Friday evening: I've had something to eat, then poured a wee dram of Laphroaig 18yo. On the stereo Rachel Unthanks & The Winterset's The Bairns is playing. Time to relax. As well as time for the Friday Islay Picture. For this week I've picked a picture of one of Islay's most dramatic rock formations:

Picture of a cliff/rock formation reminding of the famous opera house in Sydney

Many will know them as the ‘Opera House Rocks’, usually seen from the Kilchoman area or from Saligo Bay. For this picture I walked a bit further, to near Rubha Lamanais, from where I had many great views of the cliffs at Dun Bheolain. Actually, I walked even further that day, up to Carraig nam Fear, but that's a different story.

As usual I will post the larger version (larger as in more than twice as big) to the Islay Pictures photoblog on Saturday morning. With that I'm going to pour another wee dram of said Laphroaig 18yo and wish you a great weekend!
