Friday Islay Pictures #137 & #138 - Ireland from The Oa

Friday Islay Picture in stencil

Last Friday I twittered I was struggling to decide which picture to pick for the Friday Islay picture. While in the end I went for the Cliffs at Sanaigmore (I hadn't checked Twitter while finally picking a picture) a reader asked for one of The Oa with a view of Ireland. I promised to pick one of that for this week. My very first choice is already on the Islay Pictures photoblog as Cliffs on The Oa, Isle of Islay, so I didn't want to pick that again. Instead I went for a double feature this week:

Picture of a view over a heather clad cliff face with land on the other side of a sea strait

I'm not entirely sure where exactly on The Oa this is, I know it's somewhere east of Beinn Mhor, then I think somewhere between Rubh'a'Bhuic and Rubha nan Leacan (the most southerly point on Islay). Now in the fairly small size I can post here you can only just make out Ireland, so I thought I give you a bonus picture this week:

For a much better view I will post the larger versions (larger as in more than twice as big) on the Islay Pictures photoblog over the weekend. The first one on Saturday, the second on Sunday.

Until then I wish you a great weekend, may be enjoy a good Islay single malt? I had a Bruichladdich Peat this evening, while preparing and posting the pictures. Good night!

PS: The picture for next week has been promised already as well, it will be something of Sornbank in Bridgend. If you have any suggestions or requests feel free to leave them in the comments or send me an e-mail. Can't promise I can always fulfil them, but I'll do my best.
