Taking off from Islay (video)

Islay on Video written in stencil

Last week I blogged about another landing on Islay Video, this week I've got a prequel video for it (kind of). What does a plane need to do before it lands somewhere? It obviously has to take off, which is exactly what this video is of, a take off from Islay airport:

Judging from the other videos on the account Islay was one of the stops on a circular flight on 6/May, taking them from Prestwick to Oban, on to Islay and via Campbeltown back to Prestwick. It seems the best weather was on Islay with fantastic clear blue skies.

Unfortunately there are also some unpleasant slightly related news at the moment, as there is currently a large Heather fire burning in the area close to the airport. The views at the moment are very different. From what I understand it started yesterday and this evening is still burning. The low road was closed for a time, possibly even the airport (although all flights seem to have arrived/left on schedule today). Ron has a few pictures at Islay Grass Fire out of Control, Jez Hastings posted two earlier today as well, Wild fires and Still burning. Fingers crossed the Fire Service can get it under control soon!
