Islay Blogging Roundup #126

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Running a bit late in my quest to get back into the weekly Islay blogging routine. At least I'm making very good in progress in the other project I was working on this weekend. It's not entirely finished and I won't ‘officially’ announce it until Monday or Tuesday, but as I know some of you are interested in the pictures here's a link to the Islay Beach Rugby 2010 Picture Gallery. With that out of the way over to what the blogs have been writing about Islay and Jura this week:

Let me start with a blog I said in the Catch Up Edition I thought I was going to mention again: holgana: islay church. Someone now living in Bute went on an interesting holiday in Scotland (check the other entries on the blog if you're interested), in The Enjoyable ‘Wrong’ Holiday – Final Episode they also pass through Islay.

Then there were several Islay whisky tours, some of them going back to the Feis Ile: Islay, Scotland can be found on Here There Be Dragons while the Bagging Scotland blog writes about Lagavulin Day and the Spirit of Pavarotti. Whisky Israel has two guest posts by Shai Gilboa, Feis Ile 2010 - Personal Notes from a Whisky Vacation (Part I of II) and Feis Ile 2010 - Personal Notes from a Whisky Vacation (Part II of II).

I'm not entirely sure what they're writing about, but these entries on a Japanese blog look like they are about a visit to Islay: Lagavulin, Ardbeg, Laphroaig, Harbour Inn, Kildalton Cross, Machrie Hotel & Golf Links and Islay Airport.

He's another regular visitor to Islay (and subsequently is mentioned here regularly), Gordon Yates writes about his latest visit in Short Eared Owl Success, Hen Harrier Stars and Islay Break.

Keeping with the birdwatching theme the Islay Birds blog has a tricky shot of a bird, a Dunnock and a Stonechat. The Islay Natural History Trust in the meantime has Some of Islay's Butterflies and some Dragonflies. John Islay Birder Armitage writes about the breeding success of the Choughs and wonders if Juvenile dispersal afoot already? He also writes Islay Wildlife: Moths aplenty!

Ron wonders Will the Drought on Islay Continue and points out Possible Ferry Problems for Islay Travellers. The Bruichladdich Blog writes about Reaching the Parts and the recently received Scottish Farmers' Award.

Of course there were also pictures, on Mark's Islay Photography Gallery I quite liked Solstice Afterglow (partially because I've taken a similar picture two weeks ago, at least from a similar location), Solstice Sunset and Rhinns Lighthouse 3. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I was quite happy with the Water Lilies on the Lily Loch and in complete contrast the Ugly Betty Still at Bruichladdich Distillery.

I think that's about it for this week (and I urgently need to get to bed). Of course there's still the Scottish Roundup, this week with Budget blues and diverse distractions.
