Some interesting Colonsay links

Colonsay Excursions written in stencil

While this blog is called ‘IslayBlog.com’ and therefore should primarily focus on Islay regular readers will know that I'm fairly regulary including mentions of Islay's neighbours Jura, Colonsay and Gigha. Thanks to a comment by Kevin Byrne on the recent Singing at Colonsay Ceilidh entry I came across the Friends of Colonsay page on Facebook, which I joined as well. Through the page I've learned of a few interesting Colonsay websites I'd like to share with you, be it for the Wednesday daytrip from Islay, be it for a longer visit (of course in combination with an Islay holiday):

The first site is called Colonsay Events and at least at the moment focuses on the ‘Colonsay Festival of Spring’, taking place 30/Apr/2011 to 20/May/2011. This falls almost exactly between the Islay Walking Week and the Islay Festival, an excellent opportunity to visit both islands if you're interested. Take a look at SpringFest Events for what to expect during a visit at that time.

The second site is for the Colonsay Pantry in Scalasaig, within easy walking distance from the pier. I've visited it many times and have always been very happy with the friendly service and more importantly (as far as my stomach was concerned) excellent home baked cake after a day of walking on Colonsay. They also stock the excellent Colonsay honey, a must buy souvenir for me on every Colonsay visit.

Those were the two links I wanted to point out today, for completeness also the general Isle of Colonsay website. It has been around for many years, it is the first site I turn to if I need any information about Colonsay. Highly recommended.

Back to Islay tomorrow. You know what to expect. It's a Friday.
