Quick Islay News Snippets

Islay News in stencil

Running a bit late (again), but didn't want to leave you without a blog entry tonight. Looking through my bookmarks I noticed a few Islay related news snippets I thought might still be of interest to some of you:

While the headline reads Lomond School pupil in London for music scholarship the pupil in question is originally from Port Charlotte on Islay. Her parents still live in Port Charlotte, running a wilderness guiding business among other things.

I haven't seen any further details about the project, but the Islay and Jura Young People’s Initiative, IJYPI sounds like an interesting and worthwhile project.

Certainly on Twitter, I think may be even somewhere in this blog I've mentioned the strangely interesting United Auctions corporate video (they run auctions on Islay at the mart in Bridgend). If you're interested in the results of these auctions try Livestock Sales Reports - Islay.

Finally there are some news about Enterprise bodies. Sounds a bit boring and the news release is rather dry, but Iseabail MacTaggart from Islay has been appointed as a board member for Highlands and Islands Enterprise. Congratulations!

(That's enough Islay news for today! Ed.)
