Islay's Machrie Hotel and Golf Links in the News
Time for some good news, even though they are now a few days old. Some might remember from the Mixed Islay News and Links and Mixed Islay News and Links that the Machrie Hotel and Golf links went into administration in December last year. Those were the bad news last year, which have now been replaced by good news as a buyer has been found:
To a huge press echo it was announced that Gavyn Davies and Sue Nye have taken over the hotel and golf links. Here are a few links to reports and other reactions I've come across:

Certainly great news for Islay and even though I'm not a golfer I'm looking forward to follow the progress on the new The Machrie Golf Links website:
The Machrie has recently been brought under new ownership who are keen to maintain the history and tradition of the course whilst updating some key areas for modern times. This page will be updated as the plans develop.
From what I've heard the hotel and lodges will need some significant work, so it will be interesting to see how they progress. Most important of course is that the hotel and golf course now have a future and hopefully all the former employees will be able to return to work soon. Congratulations and best wishes to the new owners and everyone involved in the project.
I wonder if Islay and/or The Machrie will receive a mention at Gavyn Davies blog at some point?
