Islay Blogging Roundup #256

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

And another Sunday evening and with it another week is coming to an end. I'm slowly but surely getting back into the rhythm, so we're going to have yet another Islay blogging roundup today. It's still fairly quiet out there, but I managed to find a few posts I hope you'll enjoy reading, taking you to Islay, Jura and Gigha:

Some Islay visits to start with again: Shauna wrote Islay: whisky, gin and cows on the beach and Lynn went on a 48 hour holiday including a visit to Islay. A group from Finland (I think) went to Islay, writing about it in Islay kutsuu ja minähän vastaan!, Savuisia viskejä ja auringonpaistetta and Pelkkiä kuvia 21.07.2013 - Islay, Scotland. A Norwegian sailing yacht also visited Islay - Whiskyøya. A different visit from the Stockport Radio Society: GM8SRS/P on the Isle of Islay. Mark is leaving (or has left already) for a honeymoon on Islay.

Kind of following on from last, another Islay distillery visit by The Malt Impostors Abroad: The Impostors visit Bruichladdich, followed by a tasting of The Bruichladdich Organic (200 ml free range, grass-fed bottle).

Tim and Lynne are long distance kayaking, taking it slower after asking Are We On Holiday Now?, visiting Jura, saying Wow!! and continuing in Western Scotland and the Heatwave. Douglas was also kayaking in the area, visiting The Boathouse, Gigha and Anchor Rock, Gigha. before saying Farewell Cara, hello Jura..

Some whisky, where peat.se writes Herre över öarna är nog ändå att ta i when tasting the Ardbeg Lord of the Isles. Onversneded tastes the Bowmore 24y 1974, First Cask as well as the Port Charlotte 11y 2001, Malts of Scotland

On to the bridwatching and wildlife: John went to To Islay and back for a Friggin' Frigatebird!. The Islay Birds blog has visiting birders Stephen's sightings, first thoughts about the Rutland bird fair and birds and thunderstorms. John Armitage did some General birding.....great, and misty mornings! while on the INHT blog we find an account of an Overnight stay at Proaig, a Common Footman and More on sea squirts.

Finally as usual the pictures: NDK wedding photography shared Isle of Islay (Laphroaig Distillery) Wedding Photography with Mhairi & Fraser. The next one would have fitted under whisky as well, but I decided to mention Bruichladdich Organic meets fresh waters here instead, the same applies to Laphroaig enjoying the summer. The Edinburgh Chap is Back on Islay taking pictures of the cleared malt floor at Bowmore, a Red Deer on Jura and a Seal coming for a look. Good to see that Donald Feist is back again, among others with the OK rock, some night fishing in Port Charlotte and of course Kilchoman beach. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked Sunset at Uiskentuie, Last Sun at Saligo Bay and Machair at Sanaigmore Bay, Isle of Islay.

That's all I've got for this week. The latest Scottish Roundup isn't out as of writing this, but then it might be later? Good night!

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
