Islay Blogging Roundup #268

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Definitely back to the dark evenings now. At least there have been a few nice autumn mornings in West Berkshire and I've made the first homemade bread for a few weeks. But now it's time for the regular weekly programme and this week's Islay mentions in the blogs:

On Thursday I promised I would give it another mention, turns out it will not be the only new Islay blog this week though. I'm of course talking about Ed's new blog A Wild Goose Chase, with so far And so we begin.. and Early impressions.. But Ed's blog isn't the only new Islay blog this week, as there is now the RSPB Islay - Blog with so far two entries, Rainbow and whitefronts and The Word From Gruinart…

Moving on to a bit of Islay whisky, Wild about Whisky shares This is the Ardbeg whisky that made it to the top of of Africa..... and Oliver has a Whisky Review: Lagavulin 37 Years Old. Drink Spirits asks The End of Age in Scotch? Laphroaig Focuses on Wood. Joshua of Jewmalt is Speed dating… with whisk(e)y! Episode 3: Kilchoman 100% Islay, 3rd edition. Rachel represented Islay on the First Whisky & Rum Festival in Graz, Austria, she also has a controversial (for some) guest writer on her blog (who visited Islay in a dodgy shirt), Guest Writer ~ Victor Brierley RANTING well about the whisky world!. Booze dancing has a Whisky Review – Kilchoman Machir Bay

Jordan Devereaux opens his account of an Islay visit with Scotland 2013: Campbeltown to Islay and Laphroaig Distillery. He promised there's more to come. Kim Hood also visited The Isle of Islay-Scotland.

The latest news from the Dower House come from Katie While Mum's Away… Ron has some old postcards of Islay in the Early 1900s.

After the two new Islay blogs with a birding theme back to the old favourites: On the Islay Birds blog we can read about wet weather and bird ringing, the Nature Trek group sightings and a variety of weekend sightings. On the INHT blog we can read about and view pictures of Dr Steve Percival ringing Barnacle geese at RSPB Loch Gruinart.

To finish as usual the pictures: Ron shares Autumn at The Machrie Golf Links while Amy shares views of Craighouse on Jura and her walk to the Paps of Jura. On the INHT blog we find Barnacle geese - Gruinart and nice views including an Otter at Loch Gruinart from Becky. Charles Kenwright shares a Seascape, Islay, Inner Hebrides, Scotland. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked Gannets, rocks and waves, Night sky over Loch na Cachle and Geese on Islay and the Paps of Jura.

That's all for this week, good night.

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
