Islay Blogging Roundup #270

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Sunday afternoon, I better get this week's Islay blogging roundup done while this week's bread is rising and later on baking in the oven. Here we go, here's what I've come across this week:

A few Islay whisky posts: Sku tasted both the Binny's Kilchoman and the Laphroaig Cairdeas 2013: Port Wood Edition. Jim writes about his The Whisky Collection pt. Islay. Rachel proclaims that Whisky Is Liquid Music. The ScotchBlog from Canada tastes the Caol Ila 12 year old while Fredde in Sweden has the Bowmore 25 1987 Blackadder Raw Cask 49,9%.

The latest from the Dower House is that The roof is finished… sort of. Justin Tyers tells us the nice story of an Old photo (and promises to blog more). Ron shares Becky's news about A Greener Islay Christmas.

Not entirely sure where to fit this under, the Islay Whisky Chapter Austria shares some Islay Zeugs. Not sure what to think of those coasters either. Keith Savage's Best of Scotland: Five Destinations for Beach Combers features Machir Bay on Islay. Gordon looks back at Going the distance in the half marathon.

Moving on to the birdwatching and wildlife: On the Islay Birds blog we find a late Swallow, a variety of sightings by Natalie, Dave and John and more sightings by John and the NatureTrek group. On the RSPB blog we can read the latest from Down on the Farm while Amy reports about the Wetlands Bird Survey. Mark also writes about the Oa caterpillars. Ed reports from Sitting on the bog.. while Philippa Mitchell is asking for help in Wanted! She is working on a project called Barnacle – fish or fowl?

To finish this week's roundup as usual the pictures: James Collett has some very nice Autumn Colours on Islay and A Loch With A View. Ron brings us both a dawn at Loch Indaal and a sunset at Loch Indaal. On the INHT blog we a few Islay from the air pictures while the RSPB blog surprises us with this dramatic view of Beinn Mhor, Islay 17/11/2013. Tom Collier visited to take pictures of the Islay Geese 1 and Islay Geese 2. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked the Sunset over Loch Indaal, seen from Bowmore, the Nesting Shag on its eggs and the MV Isle of Arran in the Sound of Islay.

With that I'm closing for today. Good night.

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
