Friday Islay picture #311 - Photographing Birds
That's the first full working week of 2014 over, time for the weekend. Allowed myself a rare pizza this evening (as they usually have a lot of salt I don't have them often) and have now moved on to a nice Laphroaig Triple Wood and dark 85% chocolate. The music is supplied by Whisky Kiss and now it's time for the Friday Islay picture:
Well, that's yours truly at the shores of Loch Gruinart, courtesy of my sister Imke.
This was during our joint summer holiday on Islay this year. During my sister's first day on Islay (having arrived the evening before) we went to Gruinart and Ardnave, mostly watching birds and taking pictures.
I'm not entirely sure which bird I'm trying to take a picture of here, I think it was a Tern, possibly an Arctic Tern. There are quite a few of them on Islay, so there's a good chance it was one. I also remember we heard a Corncrake calling here, but utterly failed in trying to locate it. It sounded like we were standing right next to it several times, yet we never caught the slightest glimpse of it. So close, yet so far away. Amazing wildlife.
I think I'm going to leave you with that thought, good night and have a great weekend!
