Walking to Oronsay Video

As I had almost expected it got quite late yesterday, unfortunately it also got quite late today. Not much time left for Islay blogging. So I'm going to do some very quick Colonsay and Oronsay Blogging today. I don't know if they were on the day trip from Islay or if they stayed for longer, but here's a very nice video from a visit to Oronsay:

The excursion to the Isle of Colonsay from Islay is quite popular, I've done it many times. Sometimes staying on Colonsay only, sometimes walking over to Oronsay across The Strand. My first visit to Colonsay was in 2001. The next year I visited Colonsay and Oronsay. I liked it so much that in 2003 I took my mother on an excursion to Colonsay and Oronsay. Having shown it to my mother I then took my sister for a few days in 2004: Colonsay and Oronsay, Kiloran Bay and Colonsay House Gardens. After so much Colonsay I took a break in 2005, only to return in 2006 for the Colonsay excursion of the Islay Walking Week April 2006. In 2007 the excursion was cancelled because of the construction work in Port Askaig, but I hope to go again this year.

I hope the video (which also has some views of Colonsay House Gardens towards the end) and all the pictures from my visits will get you interested in the day trip from Islay (every Wednesday) or possibly even a longer stay. There's only thing Colonsay is missing: While it now has a brewery it still doesn't have a distillery...

And with that thought I'm off to bed. Good night. Hopefully more (time for) Islay blogging tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
