Doc Searls Islay from the air pictures

Islay Pictures in stencil

As promised last night tonight I'm going to return to Doc Searls Islay pictures taken during a flight from London to Newark. Yesterday morning I came across a tweet by him mentioning shots of Islay (even though the picture attached to the tweet was of Campbeltown). Following an exchange of tweets it's time to have a look at his 2014_02_06 Islay set on Flickr (and some help we might be able to give him, I'll come back to that later), as already mentioned taken during a flight from Heathrow to Newark in February 2014.

To see them all you can just go to the already mentioned 2014_02_06 Islay set on Flickr. My favourites include this great view of the Oa nicely showing the cliffs, this view of the whole of Islay and even a bit of Jura (with the Paps of Jura as usual hiding in the clouds) and a great view of the Rhinns of Islay nicely showing off the beaches on the west coast. Another interesting one is this one of the southern tip of the Rhinns of Islay with Orsay, where you can make out the lighthouse.

Apart from the Islay pictures Doc has taken a lot of other pictures of Scotland from the air, on some of them he could use help identifying (or clarifying) them. They include a view of the northern end of Jura, the Corryvreckan and Scarba. If you spot anything you can help with and have a Flickr account just leave a comment at the picture.

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
